This video will show you how to make a footnote-style citation in Chicago format. So Ive got a bibliography entry for a source here, and Ive got a quote from my source, and I know the page number that it was on. But then the next step is how do I write the footnote? Use simulated footnotes Go to the footer and add the same superscript number, plus the footnote text (plus an optional border above). This will cause it to appear at the bottom of every page in the section containing the table.
If you later want to view the footnotes or endnotes window, you can display the References tab of the ribbon and click Show Notes in the Footnotes group. This displays the Footnotes or Endnotes window. You can then make changes to footnotes or endnotes in the window if you so desire.
When you want to automatically update the supra reference numbers, do this: Click your cursor anywhere inside the footnote fields. Hit Ctrl A. Hit F9.
To convert one or more footnotes or endnotes: Open your document and select the References tab. In the Footnotes group, click Show Notes. Select the notes you want to convert, and then right-click. Select Convert to Footnote or Convert to Endnote.
Insert footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
