With Box cloud sharing services, you can share a link to a file that lives in the cloud, without having to send the actual file itself. And any documents uploaded to Box are encrypted to ensure your content is protected.
In order to access a file or folder as a collaborator, a person will need a Box account. The file or folder will be listed under All Files when they log in to their Box account. A shared link is a unique URL that gives the recipient to access a specific file or folder.
In the Box Web interface, create a new folder and insert all files that you wish to share. Select the Share this Folder button for the folder. Enter the email address for each person that you want to collaborate with. Each will receive an email inviting them to collaborate.
How to password protect a Box file Click on Enable shared link to turn it on. Click on Invited people only. Now click on Link Settings. Now you will see the option to password protect the file as well as several other settings. If you have any more questions about this, email ITHELP@clemson.edu or call 864-656-3494.
Tips: Secure File Sharing for Businesses Pick a service that offers end-to-end encryption. This protects you from external hackers and also prevents the host itself from viewing your data. Always double-check permission settings. Run audits on your files to see who is accessing them.
New folders in Box are private by default. Private folders can be identified by the yellow folder icon in Box. Once you invite collaborators, it is no longer a private folder, and the folder icon will change (see Folders with collaborators).
Is Box Safe to Use? Yes, Box is safe to use. It features industry-standard AES-256 encryption for data at rest and protects files in transit with an SSL/TLS channel.
You also get seven user-friendly permissioning roles, device trust, and application controls. Box is FIPS 140-2 certified, and even better, every file is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption at rest and in transit.
With Box cloud sharing services, you can share a link to a file that lives in the cloud, without having to send the actual file itself. And any documents uploaded to Box are encrypted to ensure your content is protected.
Shared link access For extra security, you can also set a password or expiration for the link, as well as restrict download and/or preview access for link viewers. Password-protected shared links are available to all paid Box User accounts.
