If you are looking to add page numbers when printing under Chrome/Chromium, one easy solution is to use Paged. js. This JS library takes your HTML/CSS and cuts it into pages, ready to print as a book, that you will preview in your browser. It makes the @page and most the CSS3 specifications work for Chrome.
Its done via CSS (inline or in a stylesheet) by adding page-break-after: always to a paragraph at the bottom of your page (above where you intend to break). Optionally, you may need to also add page-break-before:always to the paragraph or heading (or other block level element) at the top of the next page.
You can use the setFooterHtml() API function to insert a page number into a PDF footer. A php example: $client-setFooterHtml(Page %p of %n); The %p variable expands to the current page number and %n expands to the total number of pages.
We can add a page break tag with style page-break-after: always at the point where we want to introduce the pagebreak in the html page.
pagenumber element The pagenumber tag prints the page number of an element. By default it prints the pagenumber for itself (ie. the current page), but the idref attribute may be set to print the page number for another element. This element is often used in the header or footer of a document.
This is done by using the page counter in CSS, a pre-defined counter which represents the current page number. The page counter starts at 1 and increments automatically at each new page.
If you take the element that you want to be the footer and set it to be position:fixed and bottom:0, when the page prints it will repeat that element at the bottom of each printed page. The same would work for a header element, just set top:0 instead.
Even more you can add page numbering in HTML elements from header and footer.
