For example, here Ill grab the Type tool inside my Tools panel. And then Ill come over here and select some text. Ill just drag over it. Now, to make it bold, I might try and press the universal keyboard shortcut for make it bold, and thats Command-B or Control-B on Windows. But that doesnt make it bold here. Instead, up comes the Text Frame Options dialog box. Now, this dialog box lets you control all kinds of things about the text inside your text frame. But it does not help you make text bold. Bold: Use bold for your most important words and points. Whereas italics is used for emphasis, bold should be used to capture attention. Underline: Underlining text is unnecessary and can make it look like youre linking to something.
Using all capitals, bolding, underlining and multiple colours, particularly in combination, can be painful on your readers eyes and can seem like you are yelling at them. Use bold in moderation, for example, for headings, dates or actions or use just one additional colour to make key points stand out.
We use bold for emphasis, when we want to make sure that our reader sees and takes in certain words. The main examples are: Keywords, for example in a dictionary, where each headword is usually in bold.
Bold is used to highlight the text and capture the readers attention. The bold tag is used for strong emphasis. When you feel like emphasizing something, you need to first consider using the italics, only use bold text if you are not satisfied by the emphasis the italics did to your text.
To bold the text in HTML, you can use either the tag or the (bold) tag.
Type the keyboard shortcut: CTRL+B.
