Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. Im going to show you how to create the look of two versions of architectural blueprint drawings from photos. I provided a Photoshop template that you can download, so you can follow along. Its link is in my videos description or project files. It includes two images: graph paper and paper texture. When you click the link, you may see only one of the images in the preview window, however, once you open it in Photoshop, youll see the two layers. Before we begin, if you want to know as soon as I upload new Photoshop tutorials, smash that Subscribe button and please remember to click Like if you like this video. Open a photo youd like to use for this project. I downloaded this one from Shutterstock. The first step is to place the photo into the template. Make sure your Move Tool is active and drag it onto the tab of the template. Without releasing your mouse or pen, press and hold the Shift key as you drag it

Wear disposable plastic gloves Place the package by the window so the light can fall on it. Remove the protecting piece of paper and place an object on the surface. Leave it in the light for about 15 minutes. Longer exposure leaves a shadow; shorter exposure times produce a sharper image.
Blueprint paper is a specially-coated paper that turns blue where it is exposed to light, while areas kept in the dark remain white. Blueprints were one of the first ways to make copies of plans or drawings.
A blueprint is a reproduction of a technical drawing or engineering drawing using a contact print process on light-sensitive sheets. Introduced by Sir John Herschel in 1842, the process allowed rapid and accurate production of an unlimited number of copies.
By the 1970s, those in the industry found that the diazo process worked faster on documents with blue lines and, ultimately, that it created a clearer drawing. Thus, for an easier-to-read image, drawings started having a solid white background, and blue lines delineated the image.
Vellum is what many know as traditional blueprint paper, and it is commonly used for architectural and engineering plans for black-and-white blueprints. It is also possible to print blueprints on Mylar paper, which is transparent or frosted, by using a laser process.
Blueprints are more correctly called cyanotypes (cyan = dark blue). A compound solution of ferric (iron) ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide (salt) is coated onto one side of the paper that will be the copy.
