so uh lets talk about the blueprints which first youll notice they are no longer blue they used to be actually blue more of a purpley color because they were run through an ammonia machine and in the really old days theyd actually lay the drawings out in the sun and the ammonia would copy the vellum drawings onto the bond paper but now theyre just basically printed with big xerox machines another part about the blueprint is people always like to roll the drawing inside thats actually incorrect for several reasons one is when you roll it this way thats why you put the title block on the end so you can read what drawing it is or sheet or set of drawings when you have it all rolled up and then blueprints are a set of drawings sometimes theyre called contract documents sometimes theyre called construction documents but either way cds convey a lot of different stuff they convey uh information how to build it they convey the information on the design and materials that go into it th

Blueprint Printing Paper Sizes What is the standard blueprint paper size? Blueprints and house plans will come in several standard sizes. Two of the most common architectural drawing sizes are 18 x 24 and 24 x 36, but the Business Box also prints construction plans of 36 x 48 sizes.
To ensure that blueprints stay in order, architects label plans with a classifying letter code and a sheet number. For example, a sheet numbered A001 means its an architectural sheet with general information and its the first page in that section.
Drawings are always organized from most general to most specific or specialized. Since plans are most helpful to see the overall design of the project, they come first. Elevations and sections are a bit more specific and come next followed by details and schedules, which are the most specific type of drawings.
Vellum plotter paper is the preferred choice for printing a large volume of blueprints as it delivers crisp, clear blueprints. Because of the high quality printing capabilities, vellum plotter paper is used for printing final project design. Vellum plotter paper can only be used for inkjet printing.
Room dimensions are presented in width by the length. For example, a room that has a dimension of 12 x 16 means its 12 feet wide (from side to side) by 16 feet long (from top to bottom).
Mylar (film) works best in these cases. it is semi-rigid, has a long, long life, and is semi-transparent so the drawings could overlay on changes on paper. It was the perfect solution.
Blueprint Printing Paper Sizes Two of the most common architectural drawing sizes are 18 x 24 and 24 x 36, but the Business Box also prints construction plans of 36 x 48 sizes. Large sizes are necessary on bigger and more detailed projects.
Often, a single page of the blueprints will include two or three cross-section drawings. The number in the circle indicates which page the cross-section is located on, while the letter notes which cross-section on that page is being indicated.
Vellum is what many know as traditional blueprint paper, and it is commonly used for architectural and engineering plans for black-and-white blueprints. It is also possible to print blueprints on Mylar paper, which is transparent or frosted, by using a laser process.
Various base materials have been used for blueprints. Paper was a common choice; for more durable prints linen was sometimes used, but with time, the linen prints would shrink slightly. To combat this problem, printing on imitation vellum and, later, polyester film (Mylar) was implemented.
