hello and welcome to 2 minute design im daig and today were going to talk about image size and resolution [Music] this is a pixel these are 10 pixels and these are 100 pixels so our image is going to be 10 pixels wide by 10 pixels high and these are called pixel dimensions now lets say that this is one inch then here we have 10 pixels per inch this is called resolution or pixel density if you want to create a circle we would change the color of these pixels to have a smoother circle we need a higher resolution lets try 20 pixels per inch now we have a much smoother result but were still working within 1 inch here what if we want to work with 2 inches if we just increase the size of our image its still going to be the same because the resolution is now smaller we now have 5 pixels per inch instead of 10 pixels per inch and the pixel dimensions are still the same 10 pixels by 10 pixels so we just learned something here increasing the image size does not increase its resolution or

Printing: It also calculates the required image size (pixels) to print this image size (inches or mm) on paper at the dpi resolution. 30002400 pixels printed at 300 dpi will print (3000 pixels / 300 dpi)(2400 pixels / 300 dpi) = 10x8 inches on paper.
These are the best standard sizes for smaller art prints: 10 x 8 and 10 x 12, and for larger prints choose 16 x 20 frames. A 10 X 8 frame will frame 3 smaller sizes of art. A 10 x 12 frame will frame 4 different sizes of art.
For printing, the recommended resolution for all images and art files is 300 dpi. The offset press cannot accurately reproduce resolutions above 300, so it is the industry standard.
The preferred file resolution is 300 ppi. Your files should, ideally, be this resolution at the final print size that you intend to create.
Using Photoshop Open your file in Photoshop. Click IMAGE IMAGE SIZE. You should see a few different numbers, Like the Width, Height, and Resolution of your image. Uncheck the Resample checkbox. Type 300 into the Resolution box. Click OK Click FILE SAVE.
300DPI for example, equals 118.11 PPI. For a good printing 300 DPI is standard, sometimes 150 is acceptable but never lower, you may go higher for some situations.
Recommended minimum resolution for printing is 300 dpi; computer monitors generally have a display setting of 72 dpi. If we indicate that some of your images have low resolution, they may not look bad on your monitor but will likely print blurry or jagged.
The recommended resolution for fine art printing is 300-600 PPI. However, a higher resolution doesnt always translate to a higher quality print, nor does a lower resolution mean an image wont print larger.
