To see the document the way it will print, look at the document in Print Preview (you can use Ctrl+F2 to swith to Print Preview and then press ESC when you want to return to your previous view). Also, since page numbers are fields, by default, they will be shaded when you select them.
To put a blank page into your Word document, place the cursor where you want the new page to begin and then click Insert Blank Page.
In the text section of the Insert tab of the ribbon, expand the Quick Parts drop down and click on Field and then select the Page item from the list of Field names, select the desired formatting (if not the default Arabic numerals) and click on OK.
Click or tap where you want to start a new page without the header or footer. Go to Layout Breaks Next Page to create a section break. Double-click the header or footer area (near the top or bottom of the page) to open the Header Footer tab. Select Link to Previous to turn off the link between the sections.
