Excel formula to fill in blank cells with value above / below Leave all the unfilled cells selected. Press F2 or just place the cursor in the Formula bar to start entering the formula in the active cell. Enter the equal sign (=). Tips and tricks for hiding and unhiding rows in Excel Select the range that contains empty cells you want to hide. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Find Select Go To Special. To protect your conditional formatting rules, you need to use a macro. A macro is a set of instructions that you can record and then play back. To record a macro, go to the View tab on the Excel ribbon and click on Macros.

To evaluate the cells are Not Blank you need to use either the logical expression Not Equal to Blank () of ISBLANK function in logicaltest argument of IF formula. In case of logical expression Not Equal to Blank () logicaltest argument returns TRUE if the cell is Not Blank, otherwise, it returns FALSE.
