An Assignment of Authorization application must be filed with the FCC when a license is assigned to another party. An Assignment of Authorization involves a complete transfer of controlling interest in ownership in the license and generally involves the changing of the Licensee name.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires licensure when you initially purchase your system. The license places the owner on record as a two-way radio operator and allows the FCC to monitor and troubleshoot when necessary. Accuracy is important, so initial licensing is best handled by a professional.
To obtain this license, you need only pass a 35-question multiple-choice written licensing exam for which all the possible questions and their answers are public information. You need not be a US citizen, though you must have valid photo identification, and there is no lower or upper age limit.
If you want to fly an aircraft outside the US, you will need an authorisation called FCC (Federal Communications Commission). To receive your FRN (FCC Registration Number) you will need to fill the form 605 online. Thank you for registering with the FCC.
While it may not be used in practice as much today, up until 1991, in order to get an entry-level ham license, you were required to demonstrate you could copy Morse code messages. Because Morse proficiency is not required these days, many amateurs today dont bother learning the skill.
Operation of an amateur station requires an amateur operator license grant from the FCC. Before receiving a license grant, you must pass an examination administered by a team of volunteer examiners (VEs).
To send code you press the paddle or key. To stop sending, you release the key. Letters in Morse code are made by using a dit (short sound) and a dah (a long sound). Beginning students should start by learning the difference between a short dit and a long dah sound.
In 1991, the Morse code test for the Technician level license was removed, allowing easier access to Ham radio. The FCC dropped the Morse code requirement for all license levels in 2007. Seven-year-old Sharon Pakinas, of Bothell, Washington is undoubtedly the youngest YL amateur radio licensee.
The entry level Technician License Exam requires around 10 hours of study for most people. The Technician and General License exams each have 35 questions, and the Amateur Extra has 50. In order to pass the each test, you must get at least a 74%.
Anyone can buy Ham radio equipment and listen to whatever signals they can receive. Those signals are floating through the air anyway, and its harmless to listen in.
