Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. Here I am in Microsoft Word and to be able to do this first you need a Word document that you want to transform into a form. Here I have an order form for the Kevin Cookie Company. To follow along, onc

In some cases, there is a need of putting a limit on the size of characters that can be typed in a textarea. So in that case, we can use maxlength attribute to control the number of characters entered in a textarea.
While you cant use CSS alone to do this, you can limit the amount of characters show using CSS as Darren has suggested. You need to set your text container to white-space: no-wrap, text-overflow: ellipsis, and overflow:hidden. Then simply set the size for your container. What do you mean by setting such a limit?
By default, the maximum is 524,288 characters.
Short Text fields can store up to 256 alphanumeric characters. You can display all 256 characters in the table field and in a control on a form or report.
What do we mean by Free Text? Free Text is the string based data that comes from allowing people to type answers in to systems and forms. The resulting data is normally stored within one column, with one answer per cell. As Free Text means the answer could be anything, this is what you get - absolutely anything.
The maxlength attribute defines the maximum number of characters (as UTF-16 code units) the user can enter into an or . This must be an integer value 0 or higher. If no maxlength is specified, or an invalid value is specified, the input or textarea has no maximum length.
Is there any limit to a text field size? Yes, there is a limit of 13 characters in a text field size. By setting the size attribute, the size value can be set as low as 1.
The size attribute specifies the width of a text field (in number of characters). The default value is 20.
maxlength is an input element attribute. You can set a width for the item and use text-overflow: ellipsis in CSS.You can explicitly size a container using units relative to font-size: 1em = the horizontal width of the letter m 1ex = the vertical height of the letter x 1ch = the horizontal width of the number 0
It simply means the user can type in almost anything they like, without restrictions to form. Usually this means something like a text-box in an entry form, where the user can type several lines of text, possibly even line breaks, tabs, etc.
