Say I want to get the value of apples at the Central store which is sixty cents. I could go into a cell here, type the equals key to enter a formula mode, and I could type C2 and hit Return. You can number headings so that top-level headings (Heading 1) are numbered 1, 2, 3, for example, and second-level headings (Heading 2) are numbered 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List.
To format page numbers to include appendix numbering, follow these steps: Move the insertion point to the page that contains the first appendix title. On the Insert menu, click Page Numbers. Select the intended location for the page number by using the options provided in the Page Numbers popup window.
In the number reference system, a number is added in parentheses or square brackets in the appropriate place in the text, starting the numbering from 1. The bibliography of the work is arranged by the order in which the citations appear in the text.
Modify an existing style Select text in your document that has the style applied, such as Heading 1. Format the selected text with the new attributes that you want. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, right-click the style that you want to change, and then click Update [Style Name] to Match Selection.
To enable multilevel numbering, right click the Heading 1 button in the style panel and select Modify. Toward the bottom of the window, check Automatically update, then select Numbering from the format drop down. Click on the List Styles tab, select the 1/1.1/1.1.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
Define a new list style Select the text or numbered list you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Multilevel List. Specify a name for your new list style. Choose the number to start the list at. Choose a level in the list to apply your formatting.
In the numbering dialog box, clear the contents of the Enter formatting for number box. Recreate the number style for level 2 by selecting it in the Number style for this level box. Type a period before the number you just inserted. Before the period, add the level 1 number via the Include level number from box.
