hey everybody this is Paul welcome to lesson 32 in the intermediate algebra series in this tutorial Ill be showing you a couple examples of how to solve first degree equations using algebra so this is the first equation that I have here and basically were trying to figure out what value X has to be in order for this statement to be true so we know that the right-hand side says that its equal to 1/2 so that implies that everything here is also equal to 1/2 so what we want to do is we want to get X by itself on one side of the equation and then that will tell us what X has to be in order for this statement to be true so in order to get X by itself were simply going to subtract 4 from both sides and so this is basically saying that 1/2 minus 4 is equal to something and so then if we take 1/2 minus 4 over here then these two answers are going to be the same so 4 minus 4 is equal to 0 and then we have plus X then we have 1/2 minus 4 so 0 plus X is simply equal to X so x equals 1/2 minu

The differentiation of a function is a way to show the rate of change of a function at a given point. For real-valued functions, it is the slope of the tangent line at a point on a graph.
Equations are center-aligned and labeled with right-aligned Arabic numbers enclosed in parentheses. For in-text citations, mention the equation number only, e.g., mention as seen in (2) instead of as seen in Equation (2). - Exception: A sentence beginning with an equation number, e.g., Equation (1) demonstrates
Simply put, differentiable means the derivative exists at every point in its domain. Consequently, the only way for the derivative to exist is if the function also exists (i.e., is continuous) on its domain. Thus, a differentiable function is also a continuous function.
Differential equations have a derivative in them. For example, dy/dx = 9x. In elementary algebra, you usually find a single number as a solution to an equation, like x = 12. But with differential equations, the solutions are functions.
The maximum power variable of an equation is known as a degree: So, the degree of a linear equation is 1 .
In math, the subject of an equation is the variable you are solving for. When youve solved an equation for the subject, your subject is the variable by itself on either the left or right side of the equation.
In order to make x the subject: Isolate the variable by: Rearrange the equation so each term containing x is on the same side of the =. Factorisation may be needed if there are multiple terms containing x . Perform an operation to ensure only a single x variable is left as the subject.
differential, in mathematics, an expression based on the derivative of a function, useful for approximating certain values of the function. The derivative of a function at the point x0, written as f(x0), is defined as the limit as x approaches 0 of the quotient y/x, in which y is f(x0 + x) f(x0).
When changing the subject of a formula, we rearrange the formula so that we have a different subject. In other words, if you move a term from one side of the equals sign to the other, change the operation to do the opposite. (The opposite of an operation is called its inverse).
The discriminant formulas give us an overview of the nature of the roots. The discriminant of a quadratic equation is derived from the quadratic formula. The discriminant is denoted by D or .
