To change the position of the footnote separator line from the right-hand side to the left-hand side in Word, follow these steps: Click on the View tab, then select Draft view. Click on the References tab, then click on Notes. Find the drop-down list for note separator and select the option. Move the separator line from left to right using the control and shift keys on the right side of the keyboard. Once done, change the view option to print layout. The message Continues on next page is what you inserted as your Footnote Continuation Notice. This will be displayed at the end of the footnote if the footnote itself is too long to be displayed at the end of the same page and has to be continued on the next page.
