were going to explain what the image old text the image title and what the image caption is used for so Im here on a regular post I could be on a post or a page it doesnt matter Im going to go to my media library got an image in here and here Ive actually had a shot at this already and Ive described the image for the alt text you need to describe whats in the image this is good because it tells search engines what the image is and it also tells screen readers screen readers will read this text out so for anyone thats visually impaired the screen reader is going to read all the content on the screen its going to get to an image and then its gonna say image and then its gonna read out whats in the alt text here so Ive just gone ahead and described the image here so 6 dice on yellow background the title in this case is really just for your own references so youll probably just want to name it something like dice just so you have a way of finding this image the caption well

Add alt text Right-click the object and select Edit Alt Text. Select the object and then select the format menu for the object, for example, Picture Format. Select Alt Text.
Adding alt text to shapes, icons, SmartArt and 3D models is the same as the images. Select and right-click the object, click on Edit Alt Text to add the alt text.
Chrome browser: point to the image with your mouse, right-click and choose Inspect from the quick menu (or use Ctrl-Shift-I on keyboard). A new pane will open at the right of your screen with the HTML code highlighted for that element. You can then view the alt text and other attributes for the image.
Click the Format tab in the Picture Tools ribbon group. Click the Alt Text button. Enter a description in the Description field. If the image is merely decorative, you could instead check the Mark as decorative check box.
Insert the picture you want to use into the document. Right-click the picture, and then, in the menu that pops up, click Format Picture. Click the arrow next to Alt Text to expand the alternative text options. In the Description field, enter a description of the image.
Select the item, then open the context menu (right click), select Format The Format dialog box opens. In the Format dialog box, Alt Text Tab, add the alternate text in the Description field.
To add alt text to a picture, shape, chart, or SmartArt graphic, right-click on the object and choose Format Picture. In the Format Picture panel, choose the Layout and Properties icon. Then choose Alt Text. Add a title for your object, then a description.
