A footer is the last element on the page. At a minimum it is at the bottom of the viewport, or lower if the page content is taller than the viewport. Simple, right? ?
We just have to add 3 lines of style to the layout element and one line of style to the layouts child content or wrapper element. In the above CSS, we need to make our elements flow in the column direction, in a simple verticle direction. For the wrapper child, we just need to add flex:1; property. Its simple right.
Using Flexbox You can use flexbox to ensure that the footer is always at the bottom of the page. This is done by setting the giving the body element min-height: 100vh , display: flex and flex-direction: column .
To do this just remove margin top from footer and set margin top and bottom to auto margin: auto 0; on your main content (in my case article element) or margin: auto; to center it on both direction (vertically and horizontally) and it will make content align to center.
Keep the footer at the bottom by using Flexbox Make sure that you are wrapping everything in a or any other block-level element with the following CSS styles: min-height:100vh; display:flex; flex-direction:column; justify-content:space-between; .
The reason your footer is only halfway down the page with position: absolute is that you havent set a min-height on the body and html elements. Without that, the body only takes up as much space as you have content for it -- and then the footer is aligned with that bottom, not the bottom of the window.
The footer tag is used within the body tag. The tag is new in the HTML5. The footer elements require a start tag as well as an end tag. A footer element typically contains authorship information, copyright information, contact information, sitemap, back-to-top links, related documents, etc.
html. div id = footer This is a footer. This stays at the bottom of the page.
Step 1: Firstly, we have to type the Html code in any text editor or open the existing Html file in the text editor in which we want to use the Html for making a footer.Step 3: And, after that we have to close the tag. The Text which we want to insert in footer.
Quick answer: Add display:flex; flex-direction:column; min-height:100vh; to body or appropriate layout body element, then add flex:1; to content wrapper element/section. I will explain few ways to keep or stick the footer to the bottom of the page if there is not enough content.
