For example, if the image size is 6000 pixels x 4000 pixels and the image is printed at 150 ppi, the print size is a large 40 inches x 26.67 inches (6000 / 150 and 4000 / 150). However, if the image is printed at 200 ppi, the print size is reduced to 30 inches x 20 inches.
Open the picture in the image editing program of your choice, and then look for something like Resize, Image Size, or Resample, usually contained in the menu bar under Edit. Select the number of pixels you like for the reduced dimensions and save the image with a new file name using the Save As function.
What to Know Open image in the photo editing software of your choice. Look for an Image Size, Resize, Print Size, or Resample command. Use a Resample command to change the image size without losing quality. Use a Keep Aspect Ratio or Constrain Proportions command to avoid stretching or distorting the image.
Since every inch contains 300 pixels, that means that your 8.5x11 file should be: 2550 pixels wide (300 pixels/inch * 8.5 inches) and. 3300 pixels tall (300 pixels/inch * 11 inches)

This is sometimes erroneously called pixels inch for print. So, a good quality print would need 180 pixels per inch (ppi), while a better-quality print requires 240 ppi. The best quality is achieved by a density of 300 ppi.
