Gary from MacMost.com explains that you cannot directly edit a PDF on a Mac using the Preview app. Instead, you edit the source document and make changes there. The PDF can be highlighted, annotated, exported, and pages rearranged, but content editing is not possible. Some actions fall under Markup, such as highlighting and annotating the PDF.
