Add a field by entering data Create or open a table in Datasheet view by right-clicking the table that you want in the Navigation Pane and then clicking Datasheet view from the shortcut menu. In the Field Properties section, select the General tab, click the cell next to the Format box and enter the specific characters based on your formatting needs.
