The Currency data type is useful for calculations involving money and for fixed-point calculations in which accuracy is particularly important.
Insert symbol On the Insert menu, click Advanced Symbol, and then click the Symbols tab. Click the symbol that you want.
Tip: To quickly apply the Currency format, select the cell or range of cells that you want to format, and then press Ctrl+Shift+$. Like the Currency format, the Accounting format is used for monetary values. But, this format aligns the currency symbols and decimal points of numbers in a column.
Add a Number or Currency field in Design view Open the table in Design View. In the Field Name column, select the first blank row, and then type a name for the field. Select the adjacent cell in the Data Type column, and then select Number, Large Number, or Currency from the list. Save your changes.
Access opens the table in Datasheet view. Select the field (the column) that you want to change. On the Table Fields tab, in the Properties group, click the arrow in the drop-down list next to Data Type, and then select a data type. Save your changes.
