31.1 Understanding Smart Fields. Smart fields are data dictionary items with business functions attached. They are reusable objects that are created in the data dictionary and defined as glossary group K.
A Smart Field is a column that displays processed-on-the-fly data. It can be as simple as concatenating attributes to make them human friendly, or more complex (e.g. total of orders).
A Smart Field is a form question type that the users can send to a contact. When the contact completes the form, their contact details will automatically be updated in their contact profile. The Smart Field will also overwrite the existing contact details, or add them if they do not exist.
A smart field is a text placeholder you can use in your email and form templates that will autofill once added to a project. Dubsado smart fields can be identified by their double curly braces: {{client.firstName}} The example above will autofill with the clients first name.
A Smart Field is essentially a data dictionary item that has a business function attached to it. The Business Function includes name mapping, which maps the source for each parameter of the Business Function data structure.
Sometimes a sender needs to fill out fields before sending but doesnt need to sign the documents. In these cases, pre-fill fields enable senders to fill out their fields before sending. The values the sender enters are burned into the documents for the recipients to see.
