hi guys and welcome to tech based in this video im gonna show you how you can set a custom resolution in linux in this case in this tutorial im gonna use the ubuntu linux the latest version but of course the process im gonna show you in this video will work on other linux distributions as well so what the problem is if i right click on my desktop and then click on display settings here on the resolution section you will see that i dont have a full hd resolution which would be 1920x1080 so if i want to do a full hd video or something like that on my linux operating system i cannot do that because i dont have the resolution here so in the following minutes im going to show you how to create a new mode a new resolution and of course how to save it so that the operating system linux will remember it for future startups so of course as you may have guessed were going to use the terminal and open the terminal if you have it here on your favorites list or click this show application b

Say you wish to have a resolution of 1920*1080 and a refresh rate of 60. Open terminal via Ctrl+Alt+T or search for Terminal. Run command to calculate CVT with desired resolution (supported): cvt 1920 1080 60.
