hello everyone so i wanted to go over something that youre going to probably find to be extremely helpful in going forward especially when youre working with census data youll notice that with the census data ive downloaded some here for you you can see that census usually has this really quirky geo identifier on it typically you dont want all this stuff you just want the last typically five digits especially when it senses data and when youre trying to join it with some type of shape file so the question becomes how do you get this identifier in excel to just take a look at these last digits here well theres a simple trick that you can do in excel and so let me right click here and im going to insert a new column and what im going to do is just use a very simple formula its called i dont know what its called but im going to use it so equal and then were going to use this whats called write function and so its going to be right function im going to click on this cell
