[Music] hi my name is Matthew Pierce Im a software engineer and today Im going to show you how to create drop- down lists with multiple options in Excel now you want to bring up Excel and Im going to show you two ways of doing this one way Im going to show you how to make a drop- down list with uh options that are on the same page and the other one Im going to show you how to make a drop- down list with options from a list thats on another page over here so Im just going to use an example were going to use single double and triple scoops of strawberry vanilla or chocolate ice cream just a simple little example so to do it on this on the same page here what you want to do is this is my list right here single double triple theres my size I want to be able to have the pull down list right there so what I do is you select the cell that you want the pull down list on then you go over to data validation and you select the data validation Tab and then here you make sure the settings

Add data validation to a cell or a range Select one or more cells to validate. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, select Data Validation. On the Settings tab, in the Allow box, select List. In the Source box, type your list values, separated by commas. Make sure that the In-cell dropdown check box is selected.
Create a drop-down list In a new worksheet, type the entries you want to appear in your drop-down list. Select the cell in the worksheet where you want the drop-down list. Go to the Data tab on the Ribbon, and then Data Validation. On the Settings tab, in the Allow box, select List.
If you want to make any changes to the drop-down box, just select it while in Developer Mode and click Properties again. Select Content control cant be deleted to ensure readers cannot delete the drop-down box or its options. Dont select the Contents cannot be edited option.
Edit a drop-down list with items that have been entered manually On the worksheet where you applied the drop-down list, select a cell that has the drop-down list. Go to Data Data Validation. On the Settings tab, click in the Source box, and then change your list items as needed.
Creating the Searchable Drop Down List in Excel Select the first cell below the Appetizer heading (cell B2). Launch the Data Validation tool by clicking Data (tab) - Data Tools (group) - Data Validation. In the Data Validation dialog box, on the Settings tab, select List from the Allow field.
Change or delete a dropdown list In Google Sheets, open a spreadsheet. Select the cell or cells you want to change, then select an option: Click Data. Edit the dropdown list: To change the options listed, edit the items under Criteria. Click Done.
On the worksheet where you applied the drop-down list, select a cell that has the drop-down list. Go to Data Data Validation. On the Settings tab, click in the Source box, and then change your list items as needed. Each item should be separated by a comma, with no spaces in between like this: Yes,No,Maybe.
