if you havent heard the PowerPoint team has been busy updating one of its newest features, Designer, a feature that is already available to most Office 365 subscribers. If you havent had a chance to see Designer in action, here is what it does in a nutshell. Here I have a plain boring presentation using one of PowerPoints built-in themes, in this case, The Office Theme. Now, if I were to add a picture to the slide, Designer, that brand new feature I was telling you about will pop up and make new layout suggestions based upon the theme I have chosen and the pictures I have inserted and that is what designer does. It instantly gives you a slide makeover if you are using the title slide or the title and content slide that is or one of Microsoft built-in themes. If you are using your own custom theme or template, Designer will not have any ideas for you. If you cant find or select the PowerPoint designer, you will need to turn the design ideas button on. To do this you will need to select File Options, and in General, select Automatically show me design ideas in the PowerPoint designer section and check the box.
The Customize group of the Design tab contains the commands to change the slide size and formatting the slide background.
Import new theme On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides. At the top, click Slide Change theme. In the bottom right, click Import theme. Double-click the presentation you want to use. Click the theme you want. Click Import theme.
The first time you use PowerPoint Designer, a message appears asking your permission to get design ideas for you. Select Turn on to use. Note: To learn more, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Under Office.com Templates, click a template category, select a template, and then click Download to download the template to your local drive.
In the thumbnail pane, select the slide you want to copy, and on the keyboard, press Ctrl+C. Still in the thumbnail pane, go to where you want to paste the slide, and on the keyboard, press Ctrl+P.
Ask for design ideas any time by choosing Design Designer on the ribbon. PowerPoint shows design ideas for your slide. Scroll through the suggestions in the Designer pane on the right side of the window. Click to select the design you want, or else close the window.
An administrator may have turned off Designer Designer is a feature for Microsoft 365 subscribers, but some organizations turn off the feature. If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription but dont see the Design Ideas button, ask your IT department.
