If you want to use conditional formatting, you have to use Sheets, not Docs.
On the Home tab, in the Style group, click the arrow next to Conditional Formatting, and then click Highlight Cells Rules. Select the command you want, such as Between, Equal To Text that Contains, or A Date Occurring. Enter the values you want to use, and then select a format.
Simply open up Conditional Formatting in the Format dropdown, add a new rule, select Custom Formula and paste your conditional formatting formula.
In Google Sheets, conditional formatting allows you to dynamically change a cells text style and background color based on custom rules you set. Every rule you set is created using an if this, then that statement.
Example 1 On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Select the range you want to format. For example, cells A1 to A100. Click Format. Conditional formatting. Under the Format cells if drop-down menu, click Custom formula is. Write the rule for the first row. Choose other formatting properties. Click Done.
The conditional formatting functionality comes to the rescue, with which you can change the cell colors based on the cell value in Google Sheets. To apply this formatting, first select all the cells in column B. Now navigate to Format Conditional formatting. A sidebar opens up on the right side of the screen.
On your Android phone or tablet, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app. Tap Format. Conditional formatting. At the top, choose an option: Selected range: Shows the rules that intersect with the selected range. All: Shows all rules on the sheet. To return to your spreadsheet, tap Done .
