You can use \section*{} which create a section without the numeration. However, it will not be present in the table of content. You can manually add it with \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{\protect\numberline{}Your section name} .
titlesec commands is the sectioning command to be redefined: \part , \chapter , \section , \subsection , \subsubsection , \paragraph or \subparagraph .
In LaTeX you can easily reference a section by using \label{} next to a section and then \ref{} to create the reference. However, the reference only includes the number of the section, or the page with \pageref{} .
If you want a new page after the table of contents, include a \newpage command after the \tableofcontents command. There are similar commands \listoffigures and \listoftables for producing a list of figures and a list of tables, respectively. Everything works exactly the same as for the table of contents.
Sections in LaTeX are generated using the following commands that are defined in the native article document class: Level 1: \section. Level 2: \subsection. Level 3: \subsubsection. Level 4: \paragraph. Level 5: \subparagraph.
The \pagebreak command tells LaTeX to break the current page at the point of the command. With the optional argument, number, you can convert the \pagebreak command from a demand to a request. The number must be a number from 0 to 4. The higher the number, the more insistent the request is.
If youd prefer your sections, subsection, and so forth to be displayed without numbers on the left side of the title, you simply add a * symbol to the command. (Note that section headings created this way will not be listed in the table of contents \tableofcontents.)
To suppress page numbers on a single page, use \thispagestyle{empty} somewhere within the text of the page.
If you want to simply have a section that is not numbered, but still appears in your table of contents, just combine the use of the asterik in the sectioning command and the \addcontentsline command.
If youd prefer your sections, subsection, and so forth to be displayed without numbers on the left side of the title, you simply add a * symbol to the command. (Note that section headings created this way will not be listed in the table of contents \tableofcontents.)
