hey in todays video were going to append a string to a file so as you can see here and well do a listing again we have this file which has nothing in it so Im gonna put something in there and the way Im going to do that is Im gonna go ahead and type in echo alright and Im going to type in some kind of a string this is what I added and this close our quotes there and lets redirect that to fix X X whatever so thats the file name and lets hit enter now this is actually going to go ahead and insert that into the file so we do it if we do a directory listing here well see the file now has 21 bytes and if we cat the file we shall see what did i do there sorry I typed in an extra our apologize will see we added that to the file now if we wanted to add something else to the file I do the command again we shall see that the file contents are the same because were actually gonna insert not an append alright now if we wanted to do an append what were gonna do is were actually going
