Pearl Finish Often used by professional photographers and graphic designers, it includes slightly higher glossiness compared to satin finish. It benefits from vibrant deep color results, but yet still has a lower reflection than the gloss paper.
Dye-based inks produce their richest colours on glossy and lustre papers while pigment inks tend to work best on matte and fine art papers. The smooth, shiny surface of glossy photo paper makes details appear sharp and colours vivid. High-gloss (or super-gloss) is even shinier to emphasise these characteristics.
The choice between gloss and satin finish is often a matter of taste. Satin paper will provide the most flexible image on a piece of paper, allowing it to be displayed in differing environments. Glossy papers are liked by many but required precise conditions in order to be viewed to its full potential.

The heavier the paper, the higher quality the photo will be. For pictures that you want to last a lifetime, use premium quality paper. For everyday photos, consider buying a lighter paper. This paper makes the photos easier to fold and will take less postage when mailing [source: Kodak].
What are the types of photo paper? There are four common types of photo paper: glossy paper, matte paper, satin/semi-gloss paper, and luster/pearl paper. Glossy paper creates a vivid, shiny look, plus its cheap, which is why youll often find casual photo albums filled with glossy prints.
Canvas Photo Prints Canvas is an excellent choice for beginners because of its relative affordability compared to other options. Many artists also swear by canvas because of the classic look and texture of the material.
