Dates should always and only be displayed with ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format.

Follow these steps: Select the cells you want to format. Press CTRL+1. In the Format Cells box, click the Number tab. In the Category list, click Date. Under Type, pick a date format. If you want to use a date format ing to how another language displays dates, choose the language in Locale (location).
Insertion using the keyboard The simplest and quickest solution is to use the default key-bindings defined by: Ctrl + ; to insert the date, ⇧ Shift + Ctrl + ; to insert the time.
You select the cells to format, then you press Ctrl-1 (or choose Format - Cells from the menu, or any other way) to open the dialog to format cells. There is a text field Format code where you enter DD/MM/YYYY without the quotation marks. Click OK.
Right click on the date field you want formatted and select the Control menu. From that, select the General tab, then scroll down to Date Format and select the elipses button. Here you can modify the formatting of the date for the Form.
