Case 1: Adjust the Width of One Column without Affecting Others First, click View tab and then check the Ruler box in Show group. Next you can see the ruler on the top of the document. And there are tabs on the ruler above each column border. Click on one of these tabs to adjust a specific column.
On the Page Layout or Layout tab, click Columns. At the bottom of the list, choose More Columns. In the Columns dialog box, adjust the settings under Width and spacing to choose your column width and the spacing between columns.
Before adjusting the column width, make sure the tables preferred width option is not checked. To resize a column without affecting other columns, move the gray column markers on the ruler instead of dragging cell edges. Works like a charm.
To change the width of the key figure columns, proceed as follows: From the initial or drilldown list, select Settings Column width Key figures . Enter the number of characters you require for the column width in the Column width field and pressENTER .
Change the column width to automatically fit the contents (auto fit) Select the column or columns that you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click Format. Under Cell Size, click AutoFit Column Width.
Select View and Fit Column Width to resize all columns in one step to optimal size. You can then drag to resize to personalised width if required for a particular column.

To change the layout, choose Change Layout or Settings Layout Change. The Change Layout dialog box shows you which columns are currently displayed and which additional columns can be displayed.
