Your section 21 notice will only be valid if your landlord used form 6A or gave you a letter with the same information. They must also have used the right version of the form. The right version depends on when notice was served to end the tenancy.
You must follow a set process if your tenants have an assured shorthold tenancy. Give your tenants a Section 21 notice if you want the property back after a fixed term ends. Apply to the court for a standard possession order if your tenants do not leave by the date specified on the notice and they owe you rent.
Form 6A: for a no fault possession notice on an assured shorthold tenancy. This form should be used where a no fault possession of accommodation let under an assured shorthold tenancy is sought under section 21(1) or (4) of the Housing Act 1988.
As mentioned above, if your tenants moved in before October 2015, then you can write your own document, as long as it is made clear in writing on the document that it is a Section 21 Notice of possession. For tenants who began their tenancy after 1st October 2015, the correct form must be used.
This notice informs you as tenant that your landlord intends to apply to the Sheriff for an Order for possession of the house at the address in Part 1, which is currently occupied by you.
