To hunt with a gun in Ontario, you are required to carry proof of your firearms accreditation under the Firearms Act (Canada). This includes apprentice hunters (1214-year-old residents) who cannot yet obtain a firearms license.
To hunt big game (white-tailed deer, moose and black bear), all hunters require a Saskatchewan Wildlife Habitat Certificate and a species licence. Some big game require special protection, and may only be hunted by Saskatchewan residents.

You can buy your licences online through WILD, or in person at a FrontCounter BC office, Service BC office or a vendor location.
In general, most provinces in western Canada require the service of a guide-outfitter, while a few in the eastern part do not. All hunters, however, must have a valid hunting license for the province and, if required, a valid permit or tag for the species they are hunting.

To bring firearms like shotguns, rifles, and muzzleloaders that are to be used for hunting, you must complete the Non-resident Firearms Declaration form 5589. To save time at the border, complete a Non-Resident Firearms Declaration form, but do not sign the form, or you will need to fill in a new one at customs.
