If you are filing multiple applications, petitions, or requests, we recommend sending separate payments for each application, petition or request, otherwise if one payment is submitted and one of the applications, petitions, or requests is rejected, all others will be rejected as well.
Email USCIS-updategenderinfo@uscis.dhs.gov and request to change your name or gender marker or both. If you are seeking to make a correction due to a typographical error, please visit the How to Request a correction to your notice or document (based on USCIS error) section on this page.
If you are in the United States and are eligible for adjustment of status, you may file a Form I-485. Go to the Form I-485 instructions and the web page for your immigrant category for instructions on how to complete your application and properly file it with USCIS.
You may apply as the person who directly qualifies for an immigrant category (principal applicant) or, in some cases, as a family member of the principal applicant (derivative applicant). Whether you are a principal or derivative applicant, you must file your own Form I-485.
Multiple I-485 applications offer the flexibility to adapt to these shifts while maintaining your green card process. In cases of visa retrogression, which leads to extended wait times, filing in multiple categories can help expedite your path to a green card.

Related Q&A to Adjustment of status Application Form

Can multiple green card applications be filed for the same person? Yes, though this is not necessarily recommended. It is possible to file multiple green card applications in different employment-based categories (EB-1, EB-2 etc) at the same time.
Having a pending I-485 application under one category does not prevent you or exclude you from filing a second application under a different category. USCIS will only approve one application and they will ask you to withdraw the other pending application.
Another option may be to file a second I-485 application (file multiple I-485s), tied to the EB-2 I-140 petition. There is no specific prohibition against this. However, you should note that when USCIS is ready to adjudicate your I-485, the officer may try to consolidate the files.
