The mandatory minimum marking requirements for all DOD CUI is CUI Banner/Footer markings and the CUI Designation Indicator or DI Block.
The overall classification must be conspicuously marked at the top and bottom of the page on the newly created document. If the document contains more than one page, the overall marking must be placed at the top and bottom of each page including the front and back cover pages.
(2) Classified e-mail shall be portion marked. Each portion shall be marked to reflect the highest level of information contained in that portion. (3) A classified signature block shall be marked to reflect the highest classification level markings of the information contained in the signature block itself.
The required markings on classified documents include Top Secret, Confidential, and Restricted. Unclassified does not represent a classification level and indicates information that does not require protection. Therefore, the correct options are 1) Top Secret, 2) Confidential, and 4) Restricted.
Mark Portions: Mark the beginning of each portion with its classification level. The mark should be enclosed in parentheses. For example, (U) signifies Unclassified, (C) signifies Confidential, (S) means Secret, and (TS) signifies Top Secret.
