Appointees acknowledge their appointments in Section II (B) of the DD Form 577. DD Form 577 is used by the Department of Defense (DoD) for Appointment and Termination Records. Section II specifically is where appointees acknowledge and accept their duty assignment by providing their respective signature.
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE(S): To maintain a record of appointment and termination of appointment of persons to any of the positions listed in Item 6, and to identify the duties associated with this appointment.
Certification of Vouchers. DD Form 577 (Appointment/Termination Record Authorized Signature) shall be used to appoint and terminate all certifying officers. The DO shall verify all Certifying officers who submit vouchers for disbursements, and shall have access to the DD Form 577 records.
Certifying Officer appointments are made via DD Form 577 in ance with DoD FMR Volume 5, Chapter 5. Only Appointing Authorities, OA/OPCs, and A/OPCs who have you in their span of control can initiate your appointment.
