VA Form 26-8937 is used by lenders authorized to close VA-guaranteed loans on the automatic basis pursuant to 38 U.S.C. 3702(d) for submission to VA prior to loan closing as a means of obtaining information on any existing benefit-related indebtedness of veteran home loan applicant.
VA has multiple safeguards in place to ensure these staff reductions do not impact Veteran care or benefits. All VA mission-critical positions are exempt from the DRP and VERA, and more than 350,000 positions are exempt from the federal hiring freeze.
Send the completed form to the appropriate VA Regional Loan Center where it will be processed and returned to the Lender. The completed form must be retained as part of the lenders loan origination package.
a. VA Form 26-1820 is completed by lenders closing VA-guaranteed and insured loans under the automatic or prior approval procedures. b. VA Form 26-8497 is used by lenders to verify a loan applicants income and employment information when making guaranteed and insured loans.
VA has consolidated VA Form 26-1802a and VA Form 26-0503, Federal Collection Policy Notice, into the new VA Form 26-1820. Use of the new VA Form 26-1820 is required for loans with application dates on or after February 1, 2023.
