What is a Property Tax Credit (MO-PTC)? Certain individuals are eligible to claim up to $750 if they pay rent or $1,100 if they pay real estate tax on the home they own and occupy.
The Missouri Property Tax Credit Claim gives back a portion of the rent or real estate tax paid for that year by persons 65 and older, or persons 18-64 that receive SSI, SSD, or Veterans Disability.
The MO-PTC is generally filed with the income tax return, but may be filed at any time during the year for up to three years back. Example: In 2024 you may file for 2021, 2022 2023. 2020 claims must be filed by May 17, 2024.
Income Limit For renters or part year owners: Total household income for single filers must be $27,200 or less; for married couples filing a combine return, total household income must be $29,200 or less.
