The Scouts requires groups to use bank accounts (POR Rule 5. e). There are currently no rules which affect your choice of bank, and groups will normally use a bank which is convenient given the groups location and similar issues. The Association itself currently use Barclays Bank.
Individual Girl Scouts may not accept customer payments via either Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, etc. However, a Girl Scouts caregiver may use a swiper tied to the Troops bank account if the troop arranges for credit card readers/swipers from their financial institution for caregivers to use.
Go to your local community bank (TD Bank is preferred) and talk with the branch manager about opening a community service account. The account should be titled Scouts BSA Troop or Cub Scout Pack # . The account should have the following: - No fees, no per check charges or no minimum balance requirements.
