The Parental Refundable Credit is administered by the South Carolina Department of Revenue and is available for parents or guardians of exceptional needs students who pay the students tuition at an eligible school. For each new, full time job created in South Carolina, the tax credit ranges in value from $1,500 - $25,000 per year for up to five years, depending on which county the job is located. Counties are tiered based on unemployment and per capita income of the county.

To claim the South Carolina tax credit for solar, you must file Form SC1040TC as part of your state tax return. The corresponding code is 038 SOLAR ENERGY OR SMALL HYDROPOWER SYSTEM CREDIT: For installing a solar energy system or small hydropower system in a South Carolina facility (TC-38).
