The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance has introduced a revised RP-5217 form, which is now a downloadable, bar-coded PDF that must be submitted with deed transactions. Effective January 1, 2014, mandatory counties will only accept this new form, while non-mandatory counties will accept the old 4-part forms until January 31, 2014. The new form must be typed, printed on legal size paper, and cannot be handwritten. Users are advised to create a directory for managing the forms and ensure they use the most current version to avoid rejection during recording.
