ASA stands for Archery Shooters Association. They are a Georgia-based organization that puts on seven tournaments a year mostly in the southern U.S. for both professional and amateur archers. An ASA tournament consists of shooting two, 20-target courses over two days.
ASA barebow follows World Archery rules, which allows you to string walk. You cant have string dampeners, though. For IBO you could shoot the trad class or the barebow class. If you are shooting local club events, theyll usually have guidelines for their classes.
ASA Archery Rules Archers shoot a course that contains twenty 3D animal targets. On each animal there are scoring rings which are worth 14, 12, 10, or 8 points. A shot that hits the 3D animal outside the scoring rings is awarded 5 points. A shot that misses the animal is counted as a zero.
Any shooter who does not shoot the first target with their assigned group, except as may be permitted in Shooting Time Allowed D, will not be allowed to make up any targets and will receive a score of 0 for each target missed.
As a participant in events sanctioned by the Archery Shooters Association (ASA) at the state or national level, all competitors and spectators (hereinafter referred to as Releasor) acknowledge they are VOLUNTARILY participating or attending.
