For provident fund members who were 55 or older on T-Day and remain in the same provident fund, all retirement savings contributions made after T-Day (plus investment returns earned after that date) will also comprise Vested benefits. Up to 100% of Vested benefits may be taken as a cash lump sum benefit at retirement.
2) How long does the process take? This process can take as little as 15 working days (after your last contribution is processed and the claim has been submitted by your Employer) provided that the administrator receives all necessary documentation, including your tax clearance and banking approval.
Old Mutual SuperFund members cannot partly withdraw cash and invest the rest of their retirement savings into Preserver. There are also no part withdrawals allowed once invested in Preserver. A member must either invest all their retirement savings or withdraw all.
Only one withdrawal is allowed per tax year (1 March 28 February) per investment product. A minimum amount of R2000 applies per withdrawal. The maximum that you can withdraw is the amount in your Savings Pot/Component.
Provided your tax affairs are in order, and you have submitted all the required documents (such as a copy of your ID, a completed instruction form stating where the money should go, and proof of banking details), it normally takes 14 to 21 business days to receive your provident fund pay-out.
