(CBS) The Middle States Commission of Higher Education has reaffirmed Cheyney Universitys accreditation. The decision follows a detailed review and removes the historically Black college from probation.
The First of Its Kind. On February 25, 1837, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania became the nations first Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
CHEYNEY, Pa. According to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the university has had its accreditation reaffirmed after the commission placed the school on probation last November due to alleged insufficient evidence that it was in compliance with multiple university standards.
