Qualifications: This is a merit scholarship that is offered to the top one percent of incoming freshmen at the University of Maryland. Students are evaluated on academic achievement, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, awards and honors, essays, and letters of recommendation.
Freshman students selected to receive a merit scholarship will be notified by March 1 and all final awards will be made no later than April 1. Transfer students selected to receive a merit scholarship will be notified several weeks after they receive their admission decision in late April.
The University also awards a number of merit-based scholarships, which are not factored into the Net Price Calculator for most students (users from outside of MN and reciprocity states will see an estimated scholarship amount on their calculation).
And we offer generous merit scholarships to back that up. Merit scholarships are offered to some of the University of Marylands most academically talented incoming students. These competitive scholarships are based on past academic performance and potential to excel at the university, not financial need.
The Banneker/Key Scholarship is the most prestigious merit scholarship offered to incoming UMD freshmen. It can cover up to the full cost of tuition, mandatory fees, housing and food, a book allowance, and includes admission to the Honors College.

Usually, providers choose a winner within 3 months of the deadline, and they docHub out directly via email or phone to the winners. If you were not selected as a winner, the provider usually wont tell you anything. So if its been 3+ months since the scholarship deadline passed, you probably didnt get it.
