A Reduced Course Load (RCL) is a permission from an ISS Advisor to enroll below the full-time requirements for a given semester. Federal regulations provide limited circumstances for when an F-1 student may be authorized for an RCL.

Can international students underload?

If you are an international student and you wish reduce your study load, you can do so provided you can complete your studies within your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) timeframe. A full-time study load (120 credit points per year) is four subjects or 60 credit points per semester.
