Here are the things you need to make your road trip with your pet that much more enjoyable. DOGS: Your dog must be healthy and have a valid rabies vaccination certificate to enter the United States. Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old (3 months) before they can be vaccinated against rabies.
Dogs must be accompanied by a current, valid rabies vaccination certificate that includes the following information: Name and address of owner. Breed, sex, age, color, markings, and other identifying information for the dog.
You will need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection to travel and some airlines require an acclimation certificate. Both of these certificates can only be completed and signed by a federally accredited veterinarian.
Importations of pets and/or wildlife may be subject to state/municipality veterinary health regulations, federal quarantine, agriculture, wildlife, and customs requirements and/or prohibitions. Pets taken out of the U.S. and returned, may be subject to similar requirements as those entering for the first time.
