Marc D. Williams serves as executive director and is honored to work with the women and men of TxDOT to enhance the quality of life for Texans by delivering on our mission.
Texas right-of-way laws include: Those who are merging on to a paved road from an unpaved one must yield to traffic on the paved road. Drivers turning left must yield for oncoming traffic and pedestrians. Drivers turning right must yield for through traffic and pedestrians. Trains always have the right-of-way.
The Right of Way Division coordinates the acquisition of land to build, widen or enhance highways, and provides relocation assistance when needed. The division also coordinates utility adjustments and the disposition and leasing of surplus real property owned by TxDOT. It also regulates commercial signs and junkyards.
For those who may not know what Right-of-Way is, its the act of acquiring land or easements to complete a project. It could be anything from a homeowners land that needs drainage services near a road to getting new land to build a medical office.
