1. Check the MNsure box on your M1. Form M1 is the individual income tax form in Minnesota.
You are considered a Minnesota resident for tax purposes if both apply: You spend at least 183 days in Minnesota during the year. Any part of a day counts as a full day. You or your spouse rent, own, maintain, or occupy an abode.
Use Schedule M1W to report your wages and Minnesota income tax withheld. Do not report withholding for federal income tax, Social Security tax, or another states tax. You can generally find Minnesota tax withheld on federal Forms W-2 and 1099.
