How to submit OFA radiograph?
Digital radiographs must be sent as an attachment to an email or mailed on a CD or USB Memory Stick. We do not accept images from imaging services (Antech, View Cloud, etc.) or as direct DICOM transfers. CDs and emails MUST come from the submitting vet clinic. OFA does not accept digital radiographs from owners.
What are the OFA ratings for hip dysplasia?
The OFA classifies hips into seven different categories: Excellent, Good, Fair (all within Normal limits), Borderline, and then Mild, Moderate, or Severe (the last three considered Dysplastic).
How to get OFA testing done?
In order to have OFA screening, the dog needs to have permanent ID (usually a microchip). If you really think the breeder is scamming you, you can request that they scan and show you the chip number and make sure it agrees with the number in the OFA database.
How long does it take to get OFA results?
When will I know my results? The average turnaround time for hip and elbow evaluations is approximately two to three weeks from the time the application and acceptable radiographs arrive at the OFA. Keep in mind that depending on the method of delivery, it can often take almost that long for films to arrive at the OFA.
